everyone knows that the US will rebuild almost any nation that they go to war with and establish some kind of democracy, and create greater economic prosperity (overall) than existed previously.

I am not convinced that the US has either the ability or the desire to establish a democratic government in Iraq. I would expect the administration to select a pliable dictator with support from the military, simply because this route would allow a rapid withdrawal, while an attempt to establish democracy would probably require American troops to remain in Iraq for years. Expect a lot of talk about elections "soon" (as soon as they can be properly rigged), but don't expect democracy.
