Well, making money is actually making the world safe for freedom because it involves free exchange of value and the more money made, the more freedom can be funded and defended.

<My older son, like so many others his age, wants to sign on for the War Against Terrorism.
It's not about making money, it's about making the world safe for democracy. He's an idealist.

$ill Gates has done well. Idealists can make a ton of money and achieve a lot; Irwin Jacobs for example. His efforts have funded USS Enterprise and given it technology to use. Creating maximum value is what it's about.

Maybe being a soldier in the WAT is his best way to create maximum value while maximizing his life enjoyment. Mike Spann created a lot of value and presumably enjoyed what he was doing. cia.gov

I would like to see Mike Spann awarded a posthumous KBE along with my idol Uncle Al.

People like $ill, Irwin Jacobs, and Mike Spann is why I support the USA with my life's savings.

It's called Philanthropic Investing. High risk. High probability of failure. Great returns and satisfaction if successful. Accepting of loss if failing. Great benefits to people around the world. Noblesse Oblige.

Mqurice [Not a philanthropic investor now - just trying to earn a living; I tried and failed at the high risk stuff.]
