Looks like the Bosox have caught a case of NY Metsitis. The Mets mailed it in just after the trade deadline. They could have gotten rid of a lot of dead weight and heavy payroll for some prospects, but the team remained in the hunt. Since the deadline passed they have been tumbling. The latest losing streak is up to 9 games in a row, I think.
Too bad for your Sox. If there was a year to beat the Yankees in the playoffs, it would be this one. The pitching staff is in shambles. It should be called an "Itching Staff". Ace closer Mariano Rivera is on the disabled list once again. There's talk that he may have serious trouble with that arm of his. It's amazing that it has held up this long with the type of heat he throws.
Roger has comeback from the disabled list and has pitched rather strongly. However as soon as the cool weather comes around, I'll be getting nervous about his hamstring again.
Musina has been awful at times this year.
We lost a close one to the Anaheim Angels last night. It was a 1-1 tie for much of the game until the Angels won it in the ninth after the Yanks failed to score with bases loaded and no outs to end the game.
It was a real nail biter. Listening to it on the radio made it seem even more intense.
This didn't help your team much. The Angels and A's will be tought to get past.
The little league A's did well this year. We are on to football season now. Our team, The Packers, look pretty strong. What we lack in speed, is made up in power. We have an offensive line that looks like they are almost ready to shave. We have lots of pork hogging up the middle.
With a coaching staff of 6 fathers we seem to have the kids under control. I'm the Offensive Coordinator this year. I get to go out onto the battle field and call the plays in the huddle as we try to decimate the opposing defense. (This usually means we sweep to the left of we sweep to the right...) <g>
Actually the kids have been able to learn quite a few plays. We run a few sweep plays, reverses, dives, blasts, and quarterback sneaks. All of these plays involve various formations like Power Right/Left, I formation, Shotgun formation, T-formation, etc. (The various formations make it seem like we now more plays than we actually do.) These kids are able to absorb much more than we ever thought. They are real sharp. As long as they keep absorbing it all we keep teaching them more. We even have two pass plays that have worked approx. 50% of the time in the past two scrimmages that we've played.
I'll be missing this Saturday's scrimmage because I'm heading up to the mountains for an extended weekend. I actually feel bad that I'll be missing the game. They are so much fun.
Photos coming soon.
