i've never heard of that. Gates owns such a huge amount of shares he doesn't need any more (of course that never stopped Mikey Dell). there may have been some arrangements early on w/Paul Allen, but i don't think he has been systematically sponging off other shareholders over the years. i think his position at MSFT is somewhat like Buffet's at BRK: he's basically working for "free" and receives his compensation in long-term share price appreciation (or relative stability in the past few years).
