Ericsson gets CDMA2000 order from BellSouth Panama Reuters, Aug 23 2002 STOCKHOLM, Aug 23 (Reuters) - Swedish telecoms equipment maker Ericsson <ERICb.ST> said on Friday that the BellSouth Panama operator had chosen it as the sole supplier of a CDMA2000 1X mobile network. The installation of the new system, a stepping stone for the transition to the ultrafast third generation mobile telephony offering multimedia on handsets, will start immediately, Ericsson said in a statement. The contract also envisgaes that Sony Ericsson, the handset-making joint venture with Japan's Sony Corp <6758.T>, will supply mobile phones for the more advanced network. industryclick.com
