<Obviously if you measure by particulate counts, the air pollution in Asian cities is much worse. If you measure by greenhouse gases, US may be worse than China and India combined.

In terms of the health effects of pollution on the ordinary person, things are much worse in the Asian cities.

Hi Arun. The main air pollutant in Asia is self-selected cigarette smoke. Two-stroke engines are bad - Bangalore belches clouds of smoke from Tuk-tuks and scooters. Actually, two stroke engines can be clean [see Orbital Engines] but they aren't at present.

The USA with their CO2 emissions is stopping the next ice-age, due any minute. Thank goodness for all the oil, gas and coal burning keeping us warm.
