Wanna,
I understand this standpoint. But I look at Via...they don't care about the license and they try to offer competitive parts. I see this and the chance for foundries to bust into the CPU market in addition to the national pride and backing that might bolster this and wonder. I know historical performace, but see that as a building block for say stage 2. This is something I just feel is a pressure for the next decade...not today.

I like Intel's position and current roadmap. If you feel a wall coming in limiting the advances for process improvments in addition to the additional international cooperation due to foundry need then you might see points converging in the future. I hope not, I'd like to see INTC at 100 again!!!

I'm less worried about k8/8/10 than foundries becoming peers or leaders in process. We have experts but they live in sheltered huts.....the world does not exist to them....a problem.

my opinion only......
