Prepaid wireless cellphones seem to be catching on. WalMart sells a prepaid wireless digital phone called Tracfone, about $69 bucks. The phone is rechargable and it has a monthly service charge of $8 bucks. Extra 30-min cards are about $18, 60-min about $25 (see their homepage). These cards were issued by Tracfone. The handset is made by Nokia and there are three in the 5100 series to choose from. The phone was sold out in the store I visited, I only saw the demo. You can learn more about Tracfone at...

Appears Hop-on has its work cut out for it. Considering you can purchase addition time for Hop-on, I question the concept of "disposable". For all practical purposes, I'd say the Tracfone is a competitor. It has many of the major retailers wrapped up like:

Amazon.com
Kmart
JCPenney
Staples
Office Depot
Circuit City
Eckerd Drug
Lowe's
Petro
Pilot
RadioShack
7-Eleven
Target
Western Union
and yes, Wal-Mart

Hop-Op has Tracfone beat on handset price and monthly fee. Then again, folks may pay more for a conventional handset. Like anything, the winner of this race will probably boil down to the org. that can offer the best service and quality at the lowest price.
