| For me there is a happy confluence of the practical, with what appears to me to be a more moral, less greedy, and harmful way to live. Although I never give my moral perceptions the kind of weight other people do. I wouldn't force anyone to follow them. I would only work quietly and legally to make those things I consider most likely to produce the kind of society I want, come to pass. Whether the things I choose to do actually create the future I desire, doesn't really matter. It is striving for what you think is important, that is what matters (imo). No one can know the future, or whether the means one champions will get one to the future one wants, but thinking about it, and doing the best you can is the point (for me). That is always the point. Exigencies of the present are likely to distract one from the big picture. And if you constantly make compromises, without having a big picture of the society you want to live in 50 years hence, I think you can become distracted by minutia, and actually work at cross purposes. I try to have a comprehensive and consistent vision for my future. |
