Take away the results of Bapco, and there are still *many* benchmarks where the Pentium 4 outperforms the Athlon. Remember that the criticism for Bapco is that it uses scripts that weigh filters and routines that run better on a Pentium 4. Not that it makes up the numbers, but rather that it uses more tests that favor the Pentium 4 over the Athlon, which may not represent the "usage models" that Bapco advertises.

The only myth I see is that AMD has the nerve to call their processor a 2600+, when there are plenty of examples of where it does not live up to that name.
