The Marketimer Dictionary
.
Honesty: a form of speech that is highly nuanced, having several interrelated aspects which, in the aggregate, are probably too complicated to go into here. The word is often oversimplified by BasherBots.

Integrity: Another word that is often misused by BasherBots. Derived from the greek root for "rock," it refers to persons who are rock solid in their support for their favorite radio talk show host or close relative, as the case may be.

Act Immediately: A term that has fallen out of favor in recent times and been replaced by the phrase, "this investment is unsuitable for most investors and should be limited to that portion of your portfolio which you are willing to lose." As with many expressions, its meaning has changed over time. In the new millennium, it is used as an elliptical phrase, the full text of which is "Don't be a dope. Act prudently and never, never, never jump into an investment that you will immediately regret."

30 - 50% of your cash reserves: Do I really need to explain this? I mean, really!...the meaning should be obvious to anyone with an IQ above room temperature. It means 30 - 50% of a teeny, tiny portion of your cash reserves...let's say, a fraction of 1% for the most aggressive investors.

We: A word to be used only when you're painted into a corner and have to admit having made a mistake.

Buy and Hold: A derogatory term that applies to numskulls who allow the value of their investments to decline. (antonym: marketimer) Note: the term "buy and hold" does not – I repeat, does not -- apply to trades, even those trades that are converted to a "hold" after a sharp decline in value. In this context, the word "hold" has an entirely different meaning.

Disclosure: All too much is made of this word. Quite simply, it refers to the benevolent act of telling people only what they need to know -- the things that won't confuse their little minds. Scrupulous adherence to this principle avoids misunderstandings that results from telling folks all of the facts because, as we all know, they’re probably not smart enough to understand it anyway.
