Imo your son would do better to study Turkish languages rather than Arabic. Arabic might come in handy in impressing the new "Effendi's" while quoting passages from the Koran, but that's about all. :o}

Ok so let's see, Turks get the following from the US:

1. Joint Strike Fighter.
2. AWACS.

From Israel:

1. Refit and refub of their tanks.
2. Refit and refurb of their military helicopters.

Within the next five years Turkey will be the pre-eminent muslim military power in the middle east. They dominate and control with Israel all major fresh water sources except the Nile in the middle east. SA is being dumped as the major US strategic ME partner as fast as you can say 911. They are being replaced by Turkey. Baathist days are numbered as well.
