OT: This weekend, I went kayaking in NYC harbor out and around the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Utterly unbelievable. Kinda scary at first as I am used to being on a river with no large boats. Here, we had to share the lane lane between two buoys with all of the Circle Line cruises(and other boats), and also had to deal with their wake. Part of the fun was the people on the decks of the cruises waving and taking our pictures. Quite a surreal experience.

I still cannot believe that the two of us(my friend and I) were the only ones out in kayaks. With a greater metropolitan area whose population numbers 10M+, there are a great many kayakers among them. Where they all are is beyond me.

Found this link this weekend. If you are ever in NYC and want to paddle in the harbor, you can actually rent(not sure if that is the correct term here) a kayak free of charge. New York is amazing!
