It's not false that they've hidden the fact that they went to Tom first, and that he turned them down. AMD makes it look like they just happened to stumble on this "discovery" over the last couple weeks, but in fact, they've known for months that SysMark 2002 was using different scripts, but they were waiting for a reviewer to spill the beans to make it look more credible. They had the whole thing staged, except for a little problem. No reviewer had the integrity to be their little puppet. Wouldn't you think that a fanatic like Van Smith would be a last resort? AMD must have gone through quite a few others before they reached him. It has been several months - what happened during that time at AMD? How many staff and execs did it take to come up with the "perfect negative PR stunt"? Apparently, some businesses spend quite some time storming up ideas like this. I'm sure Intel is no exception. It's wasted effort, IMO. You should read Tom's editorial. It put it much more eloquently than I ever could.
