Supposing the US did become a "neutral" broker in your estimation. Suppose it then used your recommended "big stick" on one of the parties...it would no longer be a neutral broker, would it? for it would have acted decidedly in favor of the other party...neutrals cannot judge, for judgement is not neutral.

Judgment upon facts with impartiality is a daily occurrence in our justice system. It is far from a perfect system, but there isn't a consistent theme of stacking the odds against a certain party as the current role of US mediation between the Israelis and Palestinians attempts to do. Our system of law is based upon equality and fairness. If this system disgusts you then there's nothing that I can ever say that would sway your position on this subject.
