Have you been to France - for that matter have you ever left your home State? The French can be infuriating - but is there a more civilised nation on earth? And let's not dwell too long on America's late intervention in both wars -1917 - the first engagement in 1918?, and 1942 after Pearl Harbor. And aren't these wars known as the 1914/8 war and the 1939/45 war. One wonders why? And speaking of Canadians they joined right away - as did some individual Americans - the American Eagles - fighting for the RAF. Yes, America made the difference with its might and resources - but isolationism was the mood of the times. Your crowing is misplaced. Now we have a combination of an isolationist mentality (as exemplified by you and JLA and others on the Bush thread) and an interventionalist mentality - sort of hit and run stuff - and then back to fortress america. For the naive and simple minded. And to the chargin of Bush Senior and his colleagues thankfully.
