US firm seen as possible suitor for Elan Sunday, August 25 23:02:44 (Bus & Fin) US drugs giant Bristol Myers Squibb is now being mooted as a possible suitor to take over troubled Irish drugs company Elan Corp. Merrion Capital's Peter Frawley identifies BMS as a possible candidate on the rumour circuit for such a bid. Elan has been regaining strength on the market in recent days after its earlier precipitate falls. On Friday its shares rose by 7.4pc on the Nasdaq market to end their week at 318 cents. Frawley claims that Elan could be a good fit for BMS, since both companies are involved in the same areas, including drugs that treat the central nervous system, mental health, infectious diseases and migraine. new.businessandfinance.ie
