I consider the bombing that occurred in Afghanistan to be wholesale in which bombs were dropped throughout the country. Anything with intensity beyond that I consider to be carpet bombing.

You're entitled to it, but it is a totally distorted view.

Perhaps you're not familiar with how "Carpet bombing" got its name. Even when it was last done (Gulf War), it was highly targeted at military targets and "dug-in" Republican Guard units.

Even when we bombed Hanoi I'm not sure it would have been called "carpet bombing", as the targets were decidedly military.
