PeopleSoft Launches Application Integration Product Suite
PeopleSoft AppConnect Simplifies Integration Complexity
NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 26, 2002--At Connect 2002, PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT - News) today announced PeopleSoft AppConnect(TM), a new product suite of pre-integrated portal, integration and warehouse solutions that reduces the complexities of integrating multi-vendor applications. PeopleSoft AppConnect utilizes Web services technology to simplify integration and, as a result, customers can dramatically reduce custom development and ongoing maintenance of multiple integration technologies.
"Well over 35 percent of today's IT budgets are spent integrating multi-vendor applications," said Michael Barnes, senior program director, META Group. "By simplifying integration and leveraging a more consistent, well-defined application infrastructure, companies can extend their core business processes across the enterprise. This results in reduced IT costs and improved business performance."
The PeopleSoft AppConnect product suite includes the Enterprise Portal, Integration Broker and Enterprise Warehouse. PeopleSoft AppConnect products communicate using Web services and legacy integration methodologies. Additionally, AppConnect is compatible with J2EE, and .NET and works with IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic application servers. This open technology approach allows customers to achieve a greater return on their existing investments in business applications and middleware products.
Industry Praises Functionality and Business Process Focus
"Our decision to deploy PeopleSoft AppConnect products wasn't just about choosing a portal; it was all about who could bring it all together today and still be able to handle tomorrow's challenges," said Jim Bolte, vice president, Information Systems, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, North America, Inc. "With PeopleSoft's open technology, we know that when new technology comes along we are protected."
"We have seen first-hand the cost, complexity, and risk of integrating multi-vendor portal, integration, and warehousing tools," said Rob Frazzini, global director eTechnology Integration, Deloitte Consulting. "PeopleSoft's pre-integrated suite of products allows us to offer our customers a multi-function solution that can address many of their specific business needs now."
"CIOs have had to choose a portal, a warehouse and middleware technology to integrate their applications," said Peter Gassner, vice president and general manager, PeopleSoft Technology Group. "With PeopleSoft AppConnect, we give customers one choice to address all three areas, all on a common platform."
To date, more than 800 customers have licensed one or more of the products included in the PeopleSoft AppConnect suite. Additionally, more than 45 partners have certified their products to integrate with one or more of PeopleSoft's AppConnect products.
