"Jesus would be strongly against capital punishment" At least in the case of the woman caught in the act of adultery. Adultery was a capital crime in ancient Israel. The Pharisees and scribes(modern day Zionist Christian fundamentalists) were crying out for the death penalty. She was caught in the act and there was no ambiguity in statute. There was only one difference between the ancient Pharisees and our modern variety: the ancients still had a conscience. When Jesus asked for those without sin to carry out the execution, they only slipped away quietly. Jesus, the only sinless one, was left alone with the capital offender. He simply said: "go and send no more". Today many of the Christian-Zionist fundamentalists would respond by executing the woman because they are blind to their own sins.
