so why bother?

We spend quite a bit of time here on this subject because the NYT has been able to build up it's reputation as the "Paper of Record" of the Country. They have more, and better, reporters than anyone else. John, for instance, will not accept any other paper a being "Reputable." As the quote said,

"Might as well let it all hang out, if you're going to a European-style advocacy newspaper. It's the faking, the pretending, that's tough to swallow."

Like most subjects here, there will never be agreement, but we will never stop discussing them. :^)
