It's a hopeless waste of time to argue with someone whose agenda is to discredit what/who no longer matters. Cllinton's policies towards Iraq were a continuation of Bush 41's policies, unless of course you mean that the failure of previous administration was Bush 41's.
I discredit Clinton only in the context that weak leadership brought us to where we are today. We need to remember this. Clinton's policy was IN NO WAY a continuation of Bush 41's. Do you think Bush 41 would have stood still for a MINUTE while the weapons inspectors were denied access? Saddam KNEW Clinton would, and he capitalized on it, which is why we are where we are today.

Not true. Republicans make mistakes. Republicans are wrong about abortion; they're (somewhat) wrong about gun control; in fact I could enumerate many, many positions I differ with the Republicans on. But foreign policy is one area where Republicans, throughout my lifetime, have far outperformed the Democrats. My position is that simple. Probably the only other area where I strongly line up behind republicans is that I can't stand dishonesty, and I find republicans, as a group, to be much more honest thatn democrats. That is MY OPINION.
I will shock you and tell you that I admire what Bush 41 did back in 1991...that is not going forward to Bagdad. I do not admire that he invaded Kuwait. I long for an America that is an example of peace in the world, not one that is in a perpetual state of war.
This is not shocking. While I disagree with you about many things, I think history will remember Bush 41 as having been a great president as a result of his decisive victory in the Gulf War, as well as his restraint.
While I disagree with you, I can respect that you are committed to your opinion for whatever reason. And I also think you present reasoned argument most of the time, or at least principaled argument. I don't find that with everyone I disagree with. |
