"rather they are expressing their extreme frustration over not being heard on some issue" You and everybody else have made that point abundantly clear (as if I hadn't ever thought of it on my own). I have tried to validate that view point while also pointing out that it is a lame excuse. The people who bomb buildings are expressing their extreme frustration at not getting their way too... Flag burning is not simple civil disobedience, it is an assault on what America stands for. Even if the burners have a different target they are whining about, they know that many of us feel that our country is being assaulted and that is why they use this technique to draw attention to their issue. They intend for it to be interpreted as an Assault on America.
