I think when analysts use the word "capex" they are usually referring to IT spending.

They were talking about capital goods. Durable goods includes things that are not capital goods. Computers would, as I understand it, be durable goods in any case, but capital goods only if bought by a business not for resale, but for internal use.

Disclaimer - I haven't looked the definitions up.

BTW, not all analysts are tech stock analysts - just the famous and infamous ones. ;-)
