"That is what Karen has been trying to tell you...the piece of cloth is a piece of cloth. The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is something far greater."

The flag is a piece of cloth, The paper on which the bill of rights is written is a piece of paper.

I have tried with all concerned to validate that point of view. Clearly blind allegiance to red, white, and blue with stars is imbecillic. The allegiance we swear to when we make the pledge includes to the nation for which it stands. The nation for which it stands is a geopolitical region of the Universe that is founded on certain principles among which are the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

To suggest that it is only a piece of cloth, raises the question. Then why burn it in the first place? The only reason is to assault the "for which it stands" stuff. Which brings us full circle. You can't burn it and say it has no reference to an assault on America.
