major league baseball is gonna make a huge public relations mistake if this season goes to strike

I recall hearing this at each of the last three or four strikes and, yet, the fans still come out. I think the owners & Donnie Fehr have a very good idea what the tenor of the public is and what general economic conditions are. But I think their thoughts on the matter are along the lines of 'so what?'. The players will strike, both sides will look disgusting and when MLB resumes in the future, fans will come out, fans will spend umpteen $$$ on souvenirs and, for the most part, all will be forgotten. Perhaps, for a month or so, players/owners will put on a pretense of repentance as they did last time. But over time it will prove to be just that - pretense. Another strike will follow in 4-5 years.

One 'benefit'...with little or no chance of playoffs and the World Series in the future now the rest of the country will know what it feels like to be a Cubs' fan.
