ot/Roebear. Lot of merit in that article.

Recently read 2 books that present strong and copious evidence about some very worrisome long term trends in US government institutions and policies that our media has either not reported on at all, or has reported on in a very misleading manner.

These policy trends stretch back though numerous administrations of BOTH parties. In fact, I doubt whether we have a real two party system. A more accurate characterization would be a single financial, military, political elite that projects and exaggerates relatively trivial distinctions into 2 pseudo parties. These minor differences are then emotionally dramatized to occupy public attention. It's really quite a convenient way to fill TV air time without ever getting to some very dangerous core policies that have been developing for decades, but have been more vigorously pursued by the Clinton and Bush administrations, since the end of the Cold War.

FWIW, I think these two books are must reads for anyone who wants to get beyond the pablum that's spoon fed to us and find out what isn't being reported that's changing our lives and those of our children in ways that most are only dimly aware of.

Blowback, The Costs & Consequences of American Empire, by Chalmers Johnson (pub 2000)
