A19,

There used to be an old saying for the Boston Braves...
"Spahn and Sain and then pray for rain."

(Translation for Rosie): Warren Spahn and Johnny Sain were
two excellent pitchers but the rest of the pitching staff
on that team stank. So if there was a rain out, they could
possibly skip the bad pitchers in the rotation.

(Back to message to A19):

These daze up in Boston I imagine they are saying,
"Martinez and Lowe and then pray for snow."

Those were some exciting games that the Sox played against
the Angels. Especially the one they tied in the 9th and
then won in the 10th.

I imagine Pedro and Lowe will give the Yanks a tough time
tonight and tomorrow. I'm glad we got at least one game
under our belt from yoos guys.

The tough part for the Sox right now is trying to gain
ground for the Wild Card.

Seatle and the Angels are making it a tough race to win.

Who would have ever thought that the Oakland A's would be a
good as they are without the Giambi Bros. and their closer
from last year, Jason Isringhausen?

They have won 14 or perhaps 15 in a row (I think).

The A's starting pitching is young and tough and now they
are getting attitude.

Good luck. It's the Red Sox turn to go on a long winning
streak. (Just in time for a strike to cool things off.) <g>

Actually I do not believe there will be a baseball strike.
Both sides have too much to lose if they do. If anything
they will find some sort of settlement just to get them by
for a couple more years until the sting from 9/11 wears
off a little more. By then both sides can get a greedy as
they want to get.

The funny thing about this baseball strike talk is that the
fans are blaming the owners or the players.

The way I see it is that we are the ones funding all this
madness. Don't get angry at the players or owners. They
will always fight over who gets what. It's natural.
However, we have a choice to hold back the reigns or turn
off the money spicket.

If that greedy bunch can't work out their problems, then I
will not support them anymore.

No more trips out to the ball park to eat $4.00 hotdogs and
drink their $6 beer.

No more hats and shirts with their logos on them.

No more premium sports on my cable or satellite dish.

I'll listen to the games on the radio, just like I've been
doing for most of the season (since the greedy owner
George and Cablevision has not reached an agreement to show
the Yankee games in my area).

If enough fans do it, they will realize that they better
stop being silly or we might just discover another National
Pastime.

<Clappy quickly scans the foreign TV channels to see if
Rugby is in season yet or perhaps a soccer game is on...>

Watching the Little League World Series has reminded me
that this game of baseball is exciting no matter what level
it's on.
...and at least the little kids love it as a game, not as a
business.
