Jeff I recently read an article about PFTM (People for the Fair Treatment of Marsupials.) This article, arguably slanted, as it was in the SF paper, stated that PFTM'ers were concerned about the stance humans take re:marsupials, in that humans prefer non-marsupial species as pets and that in farming humans have also failed to utilize the marsupial species equally. Humans, as non-marsupials, are bound to be more attracted to their own kind but PFTM'ers feel that the government needs to offer some real incentives to help marsupials achieve something near parity. They propose a two billion dollar program, coupling tax credits for marsupial use in agriculture with a tax refund for those keeping or breeding marsupials for pets. Also, in areas where marsupial ownership is especially low the gov'mt will designate special "marsupial enterprise zones" where incentives above and beyond those already listed would apply.

I am not myself a memeber of PFTM but would be interested in your opinions.
