Which doesn't mean they are not extremely dangerous. A fanatical minority which comes into power and monopolizes the use of force can push the majority around willy-nilly.

In my opinion, the real danger is that people who adhere to the paranoid style of politics are easy marks for people like bin Laden. As we have discussed, paranoid politics is being pushed by the governments of Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, etc.

I think it is just as important not to buy into paranoid ideology ourselves.

Honestly, what percentage of Moslems really want the Ummah, and how many are just nostalgic? My perception of the leaders of Islamic nations is that they all want to run their own countries and don't really want to submit to any other leader, especially not bin Laden.
