Good memory. I remember the launch of the Apollo missions, particularly the moon shot. I remember (oddly enough) MLK's assassination, and I was only 6. That, by far, is my earliest memory. But Vietnam and Watergate were staples in my household. I watched Simon giving testimony before Congress while my mom ironed my clothes.
I watched the Tet Offensive on the news and being concerned because my favorite uncle was over there (he later died ferrying Lt. Col. Vann in a helicopter).
Weird things shape memory....
The 24 point move was important to me because it was the first time I associated the economy with the stock market. My dad said "well, that means things will be better in 6 months". I don't remember if he was right, though. I doubt it. Nothing in the 70's was what I would consider good. Except Led Zeppelin.
