I am completely underimpressed with the result of democracy in governing this thread. It speaks well of the Josef Stalin approach. Everybody votes not to ban one sniping jackass who shows up very occasionally, in the process pissing off two regular posters who are (or were, maybe) friends of mine, and then vanish, leaving the thread dead. At worst, if I had simply banned him, two posters might have left in a huff, everybody would have screamed and yelled, and the two deserters would have wandered back in a few weeks.

I shall have to consider this. Maybe JLA is right: Just do it.
