1st hand experience does count for something, but surely you have seen "unethical stuff" other places as well. My view is that hard work and smarts is more responsible for getting people to the top than dishonesty and cheating. Power has a way of changing people, and once one gets to the top they can devolve so to speak. Many top athletes, most Hollywood bigwigs and a lot of politicians make excellent examples. Oh, and union leaders too.

When you see it, fight it. But don't assume that all do it.
