What's the status with the version of 1x rtt which peaks at 307KB? That capability appears to have been swept under the rug!

Qualcomm's specs for the MSM 5100 states that it will support the higher speed. Once MSM 5100 phones become available, can the Sprint and/or Verizon networks be tweaked to support 307kbs? What's involved in the tweaking ... base station software? standards? Will it be automatic?

Is it going to take moving to 307kbs to tweak the "experts" into seeing 1x rtt as true 3g. Could it be that this enhancement is being held back until the evdo trials are completed or UMTS trials get started?

Appreciate any and all comments on this matter. TIA

Trevor
