"it's pretty obvious that he would have to be rather selective about it." You should not be talking about selectivity. My selection is simple - Intel harbored BAPCO 2000, and BAPCO 2001. Why I need anything else? They apparently worked hard, established patterns of PC use, and arrived to a benchmark with a broad spectrum of sub-loads (Photoshop filters in particular). Then AMD just enabled the OS to recognize their SSE instructions, and your beloved Pentium-4 faded away. What do you do? You select. As AMD has shown, you selected mostly those loads that benefit Pentium-4, and run them repeatedly, to make the time up. Good, natural selection I would say, Intel-style. Did the PC usage pattern change so drastically over the last year? Apparently only in Intel's mind. You should not be talking about selectivity. - Ali
