That's it. 60 miles from here to the stud, 60 miles back and 40 miles to the mare. Lots of driving with a large canister filled with ice packets and a tube of frozen jizz and skim milk. I never watched it being inserted but I did watch an ultrasound.

The vet lubes up his arm and sticks it up the mare's ass along with the transducer, up to his shoulder. He's standing behind a steel plate because some mares don't like the procedure. If he gets a double reading he'll reach up the mare's vagina and pinch off one of the embryos. Twins usually don't live with horses.
