Who built radar stations and manned them in Baffin Island? Answer: American Armed service personnel. Who built the Alaska Hiway through Canada? Answer US army engineers and US army personnel. With some Canadian assistance. What was the nationality of 10,000 army troops stationed in Whitehorse Yukon in 1943 to 1945? Answer: US. What was the nationality of 1500 troops and tanks training in Saskatchewan for the last 25 years or more? Answer German. What was the nationality of many of the jet pilots stationed at various military bases throughout Canada. Answer: US, and British. What were the nationalities of 10,000 air crew who trained at various bases throughout Canada and at Camp X in Missisauga. Answer: You name it. European and US. I used to live at on of these military bases for 17 or so years. I knew who my next door neighbours were and where they came from. Our Nato troops have been stationed in Cyprus, Germany, and the US. Nato troops are Nato command. No big deal all these years, so it is no heart attack now. The reason they need to do this is because the entire Canadian army, which is 1/5 of Spain's size, can only field 1500 infantry and with any sort of thing going on in Asia, or Europe that is down to a few hundred. If there is a terrorist alert or attack on Iraq, we would not have enough personnel to guard 2 airports. And we have more than 2 airports. And a few ports too. It is either hire about 50,000 more soldiers as grunts for 20 billion a year, or get the Americans semi-gratis. The US can afford to lend 3 or 4 divisions and all we have to do is feed and house them. They come complete with weapons, Nato training and they speak more or less good English. Perfect. we cannot afford to hire one division of our own. Nolo contendre. Anyway my friends in the CIA tell me that the invasion won't be for while now. EC<:-}
