Why should the US try to install a government of its choosing?

If you mean Iraq, I don't think we should. I don't think we should do that in any country, really.

We should lead by example.

We should protect our own citizens, and the citizens of allies, from terrorism and WMD.

The fundamental reason, in my opinion, that the governments of Arab nations don't want us to attack Iraq is that they don't really want a western style democracy anywhere in the Middle East. It will make them look bad. They maintain power by oppression, and in the case of Saudi Arabia, bribery. They are corrupt.

They know Saddam is a threat to them, but the threat of democracy is worse.
