Quack, quack, anyone skilled in sillycone and color displays should know both technologies
very recenttly took a generational step forward

Do you mean things like 130-nm chips built on 300 mm wafers? TI got the first ball rolling late last year, and the second one earlier this year. Well in time for Nokia to exploit the technologies for their summer 2002 lineup. One only has to look at the 7650 for evidence. I don't think IBM's fabs have made it to 300 mm yet, but they have gotten 130-nm down, which means that the MSM5100s being used in many of the new Sprint models are probably based on the process.

Or are you talking about 65k-color TFT-LCD displays? The Samsung A500 has one, as do a number of models made for South Korea and Japan.

Timing the market with old technology is a famous way of farting the last quack.

I'm curious: can you point me to a post of yours in which you've been meaningfully critical of Nokia? That is, for something other than their heartbreaking setbacks in thr rubber boot market. You're entitled to utter whatever opinions you'd like, of course, but there is that whole intellectual honesty thing you bring up from time to time.
