You can't stop the innovation going on around 802.11 - people are not innovating in 3g, they're trying to recoup past investments. It's what real business people call SUNK COSTS.

Economic reality has set in at the ITU carrier membership. They need the upgrade cycle to begin sooner to actually increase revenues; and they need to counter the threat from 802.11. This will happen as GSM carriers seek out more exciting applications, better spectral efficiency and cheaper gear. OFDM is the way...
