I posted to CH about "paying one's debt to society."

I view this as a technicality. Everyone should be made to stand by what they have done in their life, good and bad. Changing your name to avoid connection to your past deeds is not a moral act, IMO, as it is clearly intended to be concealment. I think a lot of "rights," many of which are actually privileges (like voting), should be denied to parolees, certainly violent criminals. I would include changing your name as one of those.
