**Political Post**

michael,

You are as nationalistic as ever, unfortunately. Enough of these so-called bombing "accidents" and it will not be too long until the lives taken by "us" reach and surpass the lives taken in the WTC. Is one life more valuable than another? Apparently you think so, again, unfortunately. If you think the answer to the problems we face is as simple as a bullet or a missile or copious numbers of them, then you are very naieve.

Nationalsim is a form of prejudice, looking at people from one side of an arbitrary line differently than you look at "your own" people. Until people really begin to think differently, the world will not be a better place but will be stuck in this cycle of attack and retribution. The fact that most here cannot see this obvious point is utterly amazing to me, not to mention disturbing, as I believe most here have a better than average education. Politics will not change the world, it must start with each individual looking for the truth. The hateful attitudes I am hearing on this thread are not even concerned with Truth, only vengeance.

There is only one thing in the whole world that you have control over, and that is yourself. And by allowing hateful thoughts to take hold, you lose even this ability.

Call me a Bleeding heart, call me what you will, but never say that I am blind to the realities of life, even if they may run counter to the entrenched beliefs inculcated while growing up. Many such beliefs which are not only patently wrong, but also go against everything holy and taught by teachers such as Christ and Buddha. Again, I am thinking of nationalistic pride.

"There is a simple truth which one can learn only through suffering: in war not victories are blessed but defeats. Governments need victories and the people need defeats. Victory gives rise to the desire for more victories. But after a defeat it is freedom that men desire- and usually attain. A people needs defeat just as an individual needs suffering and misfortune: they compel the deepening of the inner life and generate a spiritual upsurge."
