Why would anybody steal bread in Acapulco?

Mexican bakeries are wonderful. Perhaps I was too general when I said "bread." I didn't figure all that detail was needed, but it was sweet rolls, as I recall. Actually, I was the one distracting the clerk. I did not select the booty.

I had a friend, more a colleague than a friend, who invited me to lunch one day and told me he had done time. I suspected it was one of those exercises that some programs require where you have to tell someone a secret or ask forgiveness from someone else. Anyway, he was a war protestor and served time for refusing induction. He's a nice guy. Smart, too. Accomplished. I don't know how many colleagues knew about his past. I suspect not many if any. Do you really think he has some affirmative obligation to announce it to colleagues or neighbors?
