G, Partially right. When targeted aid such as that targeted in the marshall plan can work more often than not. The point i was making is that if we won the war in Iraq--total victory, imposed a progressive, hopefully democratic solution and gave the people of the country/region substantial aid and a captitalist system, you would have a good (ok fair) chance of success. The Middle East is so important to our national interest imo, if we do go to war there to protect ourselves, we should subsequently go to peace as a policy to really achieve our policy objectives. Cary calls me a dreamer and Brian attacks me as a cynic. I believe my heart is in the right place. mike
