Hi Lizzie,

It is really great to have your confirmation and clarity on this thread.

From my perspective - "the client self service" has forced the dealer organization to become very independent.

The savings that have evolved to the installer of these systems (I believe) is a major contribution to GM's new image as a lean manufacturer.

The adoption rate has been ongoing for about 3-4 years.Although somewhat steady it appears that confirmation of the savings has accelerated the implementation of more applications at a fatser rate.

Literally one employee now takes the place of 4-5 as more and more interface between factory and retail partner is accomplished via realtime web based services.

It is my perception that these efficiencies are almost a secret code that is being adopted ASAP by some of the older more wealthy corporations. They are afterall the corps who know best - people equal expense.GM,GE,3M.

Interestingly enough it seems many managers from GE are bailing out and reapplying lessons learned at the mother ship to older companiesI.E. 3M and Home Depot.

Probably the first success model in retail was Wal Mart - they have certainly kept their successes under wraps.

Key to this implemantation is a large base of data and enough money to implement the very expensive - but with a pay back.

I see the next wave of fast growth to be when these same technologies work down to smaller applications.

It is this belief that brought ot invest in Oracle ,as I think Larry shares that same vision.

Gods speed !!

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and confirming my observation and gut feel.

Bob
