Uh, CB?

>>I printed out several eyewitness accounts, and topped it off with the report that Iraq was returning incubators to Kuwait.<<

One woman from Denver with a last name. No-one else had one. All Drs & nurses that were subsequently checked with did not verify. No baby graves. And the incubators? Two, not the numbers reported taken.

>>But I think I understand where you are coming from. You'd rather believe that people are lying to you for base reasons than accept the fact that things get fuzzy because life is complicated and people have complex motivations. You like it simple.<<

There is nothing simple about critical reasoning. One has to withhold judgment till the emotions settle and search over a period of time for the evidence to support or refute stories. You're a lawyer and know that.

>>Easy explanations. Bush I and Cheney deliberately fomented war with Iraq in 1990 because they wanted to get their mitts on Iraqi oil and strangle the Iraqi people.<<

Your words.

>>They provoked Saddam into attacking Kuwait<<

I said he voluntarily walked into a trap. I did not say 'they provoked' what he clearly already wanted to do.

>>and paid the Kuwaitis to lie about Iraqi soldiers removing oxygen tanks from hospitals to send to the front ranks to save their own soldiers. Iraqis would never remove oxygen tanks from hospitals because they are great humanitarians.<<

Again: all your words, Counselor.

>>I think it must be wonderful to have such easy answers.
And then you say, you can't understand why people embellish stories. Wow.<<

Trying to paint it as Bush=pure motivations/bad motivations would be a simplification. Other parties must be considered and the motivations of the Kuwaitis were not examined in your critique.

I still recommend the book, CB. Targeting the evidence yields more than the simplistic device of targeting the person passing on his opinion based on that evidence.

That is, unless your mind's already made up and you have no intention of surrendering your position.

PS: Hope you & all others on the board have a fine weekend!
