Ted, I'm actually for mass transit, carpooling, and biking. I'm just not for forcing it upon everyone else.

Tenchusatsu, I don't know of any laws that force people to take mass transit or carpool or bike. Even the laws that encourage such usage are far and few between.

Having said that, at some point, there may have to be laws that force people to take mass transit or carpool. Its clear that our traffic is out of control, or did you think road rage was a passing fad of the new millennium.

I have to wonder if there is a correlation between the growing obesity in this country and our traffic crisis. When I was a kid, I read this scifi short story which talked about how peoples' legs had atrophied and become weak because of our dependence on the car. <g>

In the meantime, the form of diabetes that results from obesity is one of the fastest growing diseases among children. The current average weight of children is the worst its been in our history. Do you think there is any correlation with these problems and traffic?
