Found this on another thread from yesterday. Mutual Fund Magazine interviews two value fund managers. One of them, Marty Whitman mentions AMAT. I really liked his savvy comment of "Someday, these things are gonna grow." WOW! Put him on CNBC!!

MF: Marty, you own quite a few tech stocks, especially in the semiconductor area. Is there significant risk that they might just sit dead for a long time, like biotech did after its bubble?

Whitman: Sure. We don't buy tech unless cash exceeds book liabilities, and in almost all cases we pay less than 10 times peak earnings. We've started to buy Applied Materials, which we had sold in early 2000, and we're not far from buying Intel. Someday, these things are gonna grow.
