Alex, I agree a balance needs to be struck. What I don't understand is why not look for market based solutions vice government or worldbody organization solutions? There's a reason you listed the Former Soviet Union and China as the worst environmental offenders. No market forces were at work. They were completely run by government organizations. If you drew a chart. Listing on a scale those countries which promote freedom and a free market system. Then correlated it with environmental offenders. I believe you would see a clear trend. The more freedom, the higher level of economic freedom. The cleener the environment will be.
It really is that simple. With prosperity, environmental flexibility is possible. Without it your a ward of other countries welfare handouts. And we all know by now how destructive that can be.
