They used to be. That was big in the 70's and 80's, if I recall. I'm not so sure it is still that much with us anymore. And sexual surrogates were supposed to be used to "cure" people. These Japanese businesses are not only using sex in the business, and not in a therapeutic way, they are using it to break up marriages, when everyone in this country is concerned about how to keep people together, not on how to break them up.

I do think the backlash against this kind of business would be overwhelming in this country. Moral outrage of the highest degree.
